Writing Train, Bank Holiday Poetry weekends

Hi everybody!

Here’s a news-flash about events I’ve got coming up:

“The Inishbofin Jaunt” Poetry Weekend, July 30 – August 2

This is going to be a fantastic weekend. It will have classes, workshops, flashmob readings, advertised readings, reading on beaches and piers and maybe even boats, and a free public reading to cap it all off, in St Colmain’s churchyard overlooking the ocean at Bofin’s East End Beach. We are also working on bringing a wonderful guest poet to read and teach alongside me.

There’ll be places for 20 Participants and I have a full brochure so just email me at yvonnesworkshops@gmail.com if you’d like to see that.

“Enniskerry Jaunt” fiction, non-fiction and multi-arts weekend  August 13 – 15 based, yep,  in Enniskerry village! For this venue, the inspiration is charabanc trips, and excursions back in the days when you went to Bray on your holidays, plus the bonus that you can take part in a great weekend of events and still drive home every evening if you prefer, cutting down your costs.

We’re thinking of commissioning Friday 13th style stories for a first reading on Friday night. Myself and hopefully one other most estimable guest will read at that alongside your good selves. And from there the weekend will roll out in classes, workshops, walks with history attached, a posh picnic and two wonderful and deliciously Draftsmans’- Contract’- inspired visual arts inputs – one of them set in Powerscourt no less –  to get you using different skills to create story, access memory and save ‘atmosphere’ when you find it…And that’s not to even bother mentioning the gramophone which comes to all Writing Train events. Bring your tartan thermos and the foxford rug, it’s going to be a great weekend!

Kids Creativity Projects: Carousel Arts

Myself and Camilla Fanning will also be delivering Writing and Creativity programmes to 8 – 12s in Glasthule over two 4 day programmes in August, 9 – 12th and 16 – 23rd. Between my, gosh, twelve years of experience teaching writing and creativity to kids at CTYI, for Poetry Ireland etc and Camilla’s great ways with artists’ books and dead simple musical instruments we reckon we and the kids will have an equally great time!

WRITING TRAIN’s Wednesday night fortnightly on-going workshop has 11 sessions to run till Christmas and is currently seeking a couple of new participants.

Keep looking out for WRITING SALOON Saturday night reading events at SWENY’s DRUGGISTS, Lincoln Place / Westland Row and other places besides.

And don’t hesitate to contact me for info on any of the above!
