Writing Train Beginners’ classes:
Writing Train Beginners’ Classes will work best for people who want to identify their material and the forms they like by writing under direction and ‘reading as writers.’ Alongside this, in a Beginners’ class, you will, under my guidance, go through elements of the craft of all the short written forms.
Next set of Beginners classes at Writing Train:
(1) Begin to Write, at Café Joly, National Library. A set of NINE Saturday classes for beginner writers, or writers with a little writing done. DATES: from June 30 for nine Saturdays across the summer till mid -September, 10.00 – 12.30 p.m. Special summer-saver deal, to reflect summer’s to-ings and fro-ings: nine sessions for the price of eight! As a result, €200 is the extra good value fee for this course in the lovely NLI.
(3) Tuesday night Start To Write: 8 weeks from July 3, (with at least two weeks’ holidays! Dates of ‘out-weeks’ to be arranged in consultation with group.) Venue: United Arts Club, Fitzwilliam Street. Timings: 6.30 – 8.45 p.m. Fee: €215 for this course of slightly longer classes.
WRITING TRAIN WORKSHOPS: Intermediate and Advanced workshops, the distinctions:
Writing Train’s Intermediate/ Developing writers’ workshops are great for people who are either (a) ready to get going on some work they’ve been meaning to start, or (b) sense that a class that’s somewhat mixed experience-wise will inspire them more than a group where everyone is simply starting. In the Intermediate Writing Train sessions I can divide the time between helping each person who has a special interest, and teaching areas of craft to everyone, plus giving feedback on work that people are starting to produce, or are getting on with.
Forthcoming Intermediate/ Developing workshops:
Nine Saturday Writing Train Workshops. Running from 30 June for nine Saturdays across the summer till mid-September with several weeks off (some flexibility to arrange these to suit holidays), 13.00 – 15.00 p.m. €200. Extra special fee of 9 sessions for fee of 8 in the lovely cafe setting of the NLI, to reflect your summer commitments and holiday plans.
Eight Wednesday Afternoon workshops at the National Library Café Joly, Kildare Street. Running from 3- 5, for 8 weeks from 4 July. €200. For writers with a little experience who want to make progress. A bonus of this daytime class is its location in the lovely surroundings of the NLI’s café Joly!
Tuesday night DEVELOPING WRITERS at United Arts Club will run for eight weeks from 3 July, at €215 for 8 x 2.25 hour sessions in this gorgeous venue.
And Monday night START TO WRITE will run once again in CITY ARTS on the Quays from July 3rd. This 8-week course will take you up to the start of October, with a few ‘out weeks’ in which you will complete set challenges ( or take your holliers, or both!). This intensive tailored course full of kickstarts and reading, in the beautiful City Arts River Room, with groups of 12 or less and longer, better-value sessions than available elsewhere in Dublin costs €200.
